Coaxial illuminators are suitable for reflective surfaces to achieve high contrast at the edges of the object, perfect for inspecting scratches or damage on semi-gloss, glossy or reflective components and surfaces.
Coaxial lights direct light onto the object with a semi-transparent mirror.
The light reflected from the object passes through the semi-transparent mirror into the aperture of the camera; diffusely reflected light, on the other hand, radiates past the lens. This effect can be controlled by altering the distance between the camera and the object.
